Kai Akahele has spent a lifetime in the ocean. Raised in Hawaiʻi and introduced to spearfishing by his father at an early age, he developed a deep respect for the traditions, discipline, and self-reliance that define the sport.
Unsatisfied with mass-produced equipment, Kai began building his own spears to meet the demands of serious divers. Today, every Kai's Handcrafted Spear is individually built using premium carbon fiber, corrosion-resistant stainless steel fittings, and hand-wrapped grips, creating tools that are as durable as they are beautiful.
From custom color combinations to signature handcrafted details, no two spears are exactly alike. Built in Honolulu and trusted by divers across the islands, each spear reflects Kai's commitment to quality, craftsmanship, and respect for the ocean.

Historic Achievement
Men's World Record Holder
A legendary catch that cemented Kai Akahele's place in Hawaiian spearfishing history.
Using one of his handcrafted Hawaiian 3-Prong polespears, Kai landed a massive 98.1 lb Ulua (Giant Trevally), earning the men's world record and showcasing the precision, craftsmanship, and skill behind every spear he builds.
The achievement became a defining moment in the sport and helped establish Kai's reputation among serious divers throughout Hawai‘i and beyond.
